Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi clarified that he did not intend to suggest the existence of factions within DAP.
Zahid said he regretted any offence caused and withdrew the remark, stressing it was never his intention to portray the party as divided.
His comments came after DAP secretary‑general Anthony Loke denied Zahid’s earlier claim that a “Team B” was behind attacks on Umno leaders.
Zahid explained that his remarks were meant only to illustrate that statements from a small segment in DAP did not reflect the party’s official position.
He added that Umno leaders cautioned members against treating dissenting views in DAP as representative of the party’s stance.
