Wanita Umno’s Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid has cautioned party youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh against issuing ultimatums regarding Umno’s future direction.
Nurulhidayah, daughter of Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said while she understood grassroots concerns and the youth wing’s role in providing checks and balances, the “stay or leave” narrative carried serious implications.
The Wanita Umno exco said such narratives suggested that strategic party decisions could be dictated by emotional pressure rather than established structures.
Nurulhidayah added that making party direction issues public with an ultimatum created a perception that Umno was fractured.
She said that while a convention to discuss Umno’s future was appropriate, young leaders must pair courage with the wisdom to protect the party’s dignity.
She said that Umno did not belong to a single generation, wing, or “the loudest person”, describing the party’s struggle as one that required patience and loyalty to its structure.
