South Florida news reporter turns himself into Miami police following Rolex theft, pawning

A South Florida man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a pricy watch from a neighbor.

According to police, 29-year-old Michael Hudak is accused of stealing a $16,000 Rolex from his neighbor while the latter was traveling abroad.

Hudak is a reporter for WSVN-ABC Miami in South Florida.

Police said the victim was in Spain for two weeks in July and was aware that his neighbor had a spare key for emergency use only, but told police that nobody had permission to enter into the residence otherwise.

After returning, police said the victim noticed the watch missing despite there being no signs of forced entry, and several weeks later, deputies informed the victim that his watch had been pawned.

An investigation revealed that Hudak is who pawned the watch, using his own Florida ID.

On Thursday, Hudak turned himself in at Miami Police Headquarters and was charged with felony counts of grand theft and burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, jail records show.

He was taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond was listed as “to be set” as of Thursday afternoon.

WSVN said in a statement that Hudak “has been suspended without pay at this time.” #miami #florida #crime
