#Russian President Vladimir #Putin and participants of the #BRICS summit in #Kazan attended a gala dinner Wednesday evening. Speaking at the dinner, Putin said that Wednesday’s meetings showed that BRICS countries “share the universal values of peace, justice and equality” and “jointly strive to contribute in every possible way to the formation of a fair multipolar world order with the decisive participation of the countries of the global South and East in the systems of international governance.”
The alliance that initially included #Brazil Russia, #India #China and #SouthAfrica has expanded to embrace #Iran #Egypt #Ethiopia the #UAE and #SaudiArabia #Turkey #Azerbaijan and #Malaysia have formally applied to become members, and several others have expressed interest in joining. The three-day summit in the city of Kazan that began Tuesday is attended by 36 countries, highlighting the failure of U.S.-led efforts to isolate Russia over its actions in #Ukraine #politics #worldnews
