North Korea Fires Multiple Missiles Off East Coast, Says South Korea

South Korea’s military said North Korea fired several short-range ballistic missiles off its east coast on Tuesday. Seoul stated that the intelligence authorities of South Korea and the US detected and monitored North Korea’s missile launch preparations in advance. The missile launches come amid Japan’s Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya’s visit to South Korea. Acting President Choi Sang-mok condemned the launch, saying it violated UN Security Council resolutions and that the country would respond strongly to North Korea’s provocations. South Korea added that the information was constantly shared with the United States and Japan.
