Both mother and child in the Juru double murder case were slashed in the neck, sustaining deep wounds that proved fatal, preliminary findings show.
Penang Hospital forensic pathologist Datuk Dr Zahari Noor said both victims suffered extensive and similar injuries to the back of the neck, suggesting they were inflicted with significant force, likely at close range.
Dr Zahari said that the post-mortem revealed the first victim, aged 51, was slashed at the back of her neck before the assailant moved upstairs and attacked the 11-year-old victim from behind.
Both victims sustained deep wounds to the back of their necks.
Dr Zahari said there were also signs of defensive injuries, indicating a possible struggle, although the fatal blows were concentrated on the back of the neck.
