The accident involving a trailer laden with rocks and a Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) truck, which had already claimed eight lives, has now claimed another, bringing the total to nine fatalities.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani Saidon said the actual number of FRU policemen in the truck at the time of the accident was 18.
She added that the bodies were taken to Teluk Intan Hospital for post-mortem examinations, while the injured were also brought there for treatment.
Meanwhile, Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said that all the FRU policemen were from Unit 5 of Sungai Senam in Ipoh.
