Pune reported its first death due to Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), with 101 confirmed cases. Currently, 16 patients are on ventilator support. Authorities have intensified water testing, revealing high E. coli levels near Khadakwasla Dam, a potential source of the outbreak. The health department has surveyed over 25,000 households to identify more cases. GBS, a rare condition where the immune system attacks the nervous system, requires costly immunoglobulin injections for treatment.
