Australian scientists have begun a new major ice core drilling project in Antarctica.
They hope to search through more than a million years of climate history for clues about our planet’s past and future.
Researchers believe the ice near the continent’s Dome C North is up to 2 million years old. They plan to extract a cross-section 3 kilometres deep.
