During a segment with Access Hollywood, Parton discovered that she and Cyrus are seventh cousins, once removed, connected through a common ancestor, John Brickey of Virginia – who is Parton’s sixth great-grandfather and Cyrus’ seventh, thanks to the help of Ancestry.
Parton reacted to the news, saying: “Is that true? That’s amazing! I’m sure [Miley will] get a kick out of that, but it doesn’t surprise me because she does feel like family!”
