AI is hungry for chips that it’s going to make 2026 the year with no products.
It’s so bad that companies like Nintendo are considering raising the prices of stuff like the Switch 2… and that’s a BEST CASE scenario.
Giants like Valve are struggling so much to get chips that the extremely popular Steam Deck is on hold and the super hyped Steam Machine is dead in the water. It can’t live up to the hype of being an affordable gaming PC with how expensive memory is right now.
Even NVIDIA — the company that makes a lot of components for AI — is reportedly not going to release any consumer products this year. Like AI is literally more valuable to them as a customer than millions of people around the globe. That’s pretty much true for every company that produces RAM right now, leaving none for consumer products.
A few Chinese ones are trying to fill the gap in the market, But if their stuff ends up being remotely good then AI is going to try and gobble those up too. It’s so bad that we might see future products be put on hold, with Sony notably saying that the next Playstation might have a massive delay.
So in exchange for a bunch of shitty AI-generated videos and memes, you get nothing this year.
